Integrity. Experience. Diligence.

Advocating for you and your family since 1990

Aho & Potti, LLP was founded in 1990 between partners Dale P. Aho and Paul N. Potti. Their guiding vision was simple and straightforward: to represent their clients vigorously, compassionately and ethically.

Located in downtown Farmington, we have been providing a cost-effect, result-driven approach to solving legal concerns for over twenty-five years.  As life-long Michiganders, we understand the complexities of Michigan law and the nuances of planning for your future, your family and your business.

Like the people we serve, Aho & Potti, LLP has evolved and adapted over the past two decades. However, our firm remains committed to the same fundamental principles that guided its founders: to represent our clients effectively and aggressively with compassion and diligence.

PROBATE

The passing of someone you care about is undoubtedly emotionally challenging and dealing with the intricacies associated with their estate is often a demanding endeavor. There are numerous legal procedures involved with the administration and division of the property of an estate.

With over 25 years of experience handling probate in every county in Michigan, we understand how to hasten the process of estate administration with a focus on steering those faced with fiduciary responsibilities through this process smoothly and successfully.

TRUST & ESTATE LITIGATION

Estates, wills and trusts may be contested for various reasons.  It is vital to obtain skilled legal help and advice to secure your inheritance and make certain that you get what you are lawfully entitled to.

We recognize the emotional and financial challenges associated with estate litigation. Our top priority is to lead parties to a sensible and amicable resolution and thereby averting complications, expense and unnecessary conflict as well as zealously litigating on the part of our clients when required.

CIVIL LITIGATION

Aho & Potti litigators have extensive experience across a broad spectrum of litigation matters, including agency; business and partnership disputes; contract matters; construction; creditor’s rights and debtor’s protection; family disputes; real estate; and will contests and probate.

Our goal is to ensure that the most competent, "hands-on" and cost effective approach is undertaken on behalf of each client, whether in the prosecution or defense of a litigated matter.

Estate planning trusts

Our firm has represented clients concerning a full spectrum of trust and estate issues in Michigan including Estate Settlement and Administration, Probate and Intestate Administration proceedings, Will contests, Kinship matters, Fiduciary Accountings, Trusts, and Estate taxes.

To ensure that your will and all of your other estate and advance planning documents will realize your vision of the future, we take the time necessary to interview you and gain a thorough understanding of all the relevant details to create an estate plan that protects you and your loved ones.

REAL ESTATE

The selling or buying of commercial or residential property ought to be carefully managed by highly qualified legal counsel. Real estate contracts need to be analyzed very carefully and mortgage documents reviewed for accuracy to help avert potential complications, damages and legal issues.

We have over two decades of experience in real estate development transactions, ranging from the acquisition and financing of the land, to the construction work and funding required to implement the project, and finally to the leasing, operation and permanent financing of the development.

CORPORATIONS

We offer a broad array of corporate services, ranging from establishing ventures to complete capital financings and mergers and acquisitions. Clients are similarly varied, and include privatly held entities (including family owned businesses), international companies, and not-for-profit corporations.

TAXATION & TRUST ADMINISTRATION

The administration of trusts can be extremely complex. Because trust administration can often overlap with tax laws and tax accounting rules, it is imperative to enlist the help of a skilled attorney. Our intimate knowledge of Michigan's laws serves as immeasurable benefit to our clients. We can help you navigate the complex process of trust administration and address any concerns that you may have.

ELDER LAW & MEDICAID PLANNING

Elder Law involves planning for the complex health care, long-term care, and other issues facing elderly and disabled individuals and their families. At Aho & Potti, we provide comprehensive legal services to help clients with issues that arise later in life. We advise clients on issues such as long-term care planning, qualification for government benefit programs through Medicaid and the Vetran's Administration, and special needs' trusts for the care of a disabled child.

We sort through all the details and take the time to explain your options clearly to help you make a choice that's right for your particular situation.
